Services & Approach

There are different kinds of therapists for different areas of expertise.  My specialization is in relational dynamics. I have a master’s degree in Marriage/Couples’ and Family therapy and I have extensive training in Emotion-Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT-C) and hypnotherapy.

I am also certified coach to use the PRINT® assessment, which is a breakthrough model to understand human motivation.

This collective skill set helps me track how people get stuck in their relationship to themselves, such as stuck in anxiety or depression, or in how they relate in relationships – such as being critical or defensive. We are constantly in relationship, either with people around us, or with ourselves.

I help by increasing your awareness about these relationships – the internal and the external – to notice where there’s constriction and why.

Often our relational patterns are unconscious and we live mostly in a reactive space. Gradually, with understanding and gentle challenge, I work to help open these ways of being that restrict you so that you have more capacity and more possibility in your life. Anxiety can ease, depression can lift, and a greater sense of connection can exist in your close relationships.

In my work I draw from Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), PRINT®, Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic theory, and hypnosis.

Couples

Relationships are hard because we all want to feel respected, loved, and cared about, and when we don’t in relationships that matter, we get triggered.

Our reactions can lead to problematic cycles where we’re stuck in a pattern of criticism and defensiveness. And whatever you try, you can’t find your way out of this negative cycle.

These patterns can come up in intimate relationships, family relationships, and close friendships. It can happen with anyone, but when it’s with someone we love, it can really hurt.

Therapy can make an enormous difference so that you can resolve relationship conflicts, improve emotional connection, and increase intimacy.

I work to increase your understanding of how you are relating together and why you get stuck in escalating negative cycles. Then I will guide you toward positive patterns of interaction so that you have much more satisfying connection.

As this positive cycle develops, you will be better able to communicate, reconnect, and feel close.

Individual

In individual counseling I can help you work through blocks, heal past hurts and losses, and attend to feelings of hopelessness and negativity that hold you back.

I use specific counseling techniques to help you deeply understand and identify your inner emotional patterns so that you can move beyond what’s familiar and have a greater sense of freedom and possibility. Together we can work so that you feel more empowered in your life.
